Go with food that does not have high fructose corn syrup in it. These may be harder than you think to find, but it can be done. Anything sweet usually has it in it, but there are alternatives to those items that do not.
Check the local natural food sources around you. Go with organic alternatives to the food that you eat. You can usually find an organic stuffing mix or other types of foods. This is always a good thing to think about if you’re not looking for the loaded extras in the food that you eat.
Consider making things fresh and homemade rather than buying them pre-made. Generally, you can control what goes into the food that you make - which makes it easier to put what you want, and don’t want within it. Fresh pies, cranberry sauce and even mashed potatoes can go a long way when it comes to eating for the holidays.
Skip purchasing soda to hand out. Consider a sugar free juice, milk and water for the dinner. Soda can cause a lot of upset stomachs and provide too much sugar - especially if there are kids. If someone wants to bring their soda, let them but you may not want your family to have some.
When you’re bringing family together for the holidays, it can be tough to plan accordingly but you should. You should make sure that everyone has healthy options to choose from and that everyone has a good time - when you control the food, you’re able to do this much easier.
